The best part about getting older is giving myself permission to invest in classic, quality pieces, that still look interesting, fresh and not like I shop exclusively off the J.Crew sale rack.  (not that there’s anything wrong with that.  It can be a very comforting place.)  When I find pieces that give a lot of bang for my buck, I spend a little more, because damn it, I’ve earned it.

Enter Ripley Rader.  A local LA designer, whose take on style matches mine: streamlined with a little bit of sex appeal, and a whole lot of figure flattering.  Her high-waisted pants are leg-lengthening, middle-whittling wonders.  The proportions of her separates and dresses are flattering on many different body types and body-conscious without leaving you feeling like you’re naked wearing sausage casing, they hug the right places and skim, ahem…others.

Like this red batwing dress.  Fitted, but still covered thanks to the draped sleeves.  When I recently wore this on Access Hollywood, producers, stylists, executives- everyone stopped me and had to know whose dress I was wearing.

She is known for her jumpsuits too, and these are wardrobe workhorses.

This black wide leg catsuit is a stylish alternative to the LBD, and super sleek when paired with a simple gold belt.

A grey jumpsuit takes me from soccer snack mom with adidas to girls’ night out when paired with open toe booties.  The jersey she uses is substantial, soft, and most of all, comfortable.  It’s like getting dressed up, but feeling like you’re still in your jammies.  Genius.
