Summer Must-Haves

Although it feels like summer most of the year here in LA, warmer weather brings out a special giddiness even for us Angelenos.

View of the beach

Lazy beach days and faraway travels beckon as our mind, body, spirit and style get in tune with the season.  Here are my top beauty picks to keep you looking your best all summer long.

Leave a comment below and you could win one for yourself, valued at almost $400!

Cuyana Crossbody Pouch

Simple, chic and functional enough to hold your summer adventure essentials, this Cuyana Crossbody Pouch gives a refreshing pop of color to any ensemble, plus the strap also detaches for use as a clutch or makeup bag.  I wear mine with cutoffs and a white flowy top or my favorite striped sundress.  Can’t wait to take it to Japan this summer…

This irreverent, fun, new sunscreen not only protects with minerals while loaded with antioxidants, but instantly ups your cool factor with its retro rock concert vibe.  (SunDMC and Goth Block are their other offerings)  Let it Block is paraben-free, and friendlier to the environment, plus the packaging is recyclable and uses less plastic.  Block on!

Aloe Gloe beverage

Looking for summer refreshment, without drinking liquid sugar?  Aloe Gloe is organic, GMO-free, locally-produced, full of the benefits of aloe vera and only 35 calories!   Plus, aloe is good for both your skin and your digestion.  I like the coconut and crisp aloe flavors, alone or added to smoothies.

No matter the season, I am obsessed with Uma Oils. Their Ultimate Brightening Face Oil is the one product I never, ever swap out of my routine.  In summer, when sun exposure and risk of brown spots are at an all-time high, this organic, hand-crafted,  oil keeps my complexion looking radiant and clear, plus it smells like heaven.  A luxurious necessity

Luma RX hair remover

IPL hair removal at home?  No way.  YES WAY.  I love that Luma RX is not painful, messy, time-consuming or laden with chemicals, but simply put, a VERY effective way to permanently remove unwanted hair.  I was doubtful at first, but after they gifted me the Mini and showed me how to use it,  I’m heading into my 1st summer free of waxing, shaving or razor burn.  The technology works best on darker hair colors, and is FDA cleared for areas south of your eyebrows.

Want to kick start your summer style?  I’m giving one lucky reader their own Luma RX Mini, valued at $379!  Just leave a comment below sharing what you love most about summer and a winner will be picked at random.   Good luck!

    Hi Diane!
Up here in the mountains we’re excited about summer, too! And summer up here everyone tries to spend as much time soaking up the sunshine that it’s like nonstop events! Great chili cookoff, hot August nights, balloon races, camel races, Art Walk studio tours and exhibits. 4th of July fireworks on lake Tahoe and finally ending in November with the Polar Express pajama jaunt to Virginia City!!
My wife would really enjoy a hairfree summer. I hope you won’t think this is a cheesy attempt at swag collecting. We really do enjoy what you do and she has many of the products you promo.
I like the he sound of that sunblock. As a former rocker, lots of burn memories playing gigs on stage in the sun! Wish I’d had some then!!
Take care and keep up the good work!
    Your pal,

I love the long days and warm nights of summer because it makes me feel like a kid again! I get to be active with my boys and we are allowed to lose track of time because the summer allows us to live in the moment without any other commitments to distract us. We have time to nurture our souls with things that truly makes our hearts happy. This always includes our favorite activity of exploring near-and-far and spending time with friends and family. Summer?! Bring it on!

Couldn’t agree more Sae! It feels like a break for us too, not having to be in the day to day grind. I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing, so well said! xo

I love the sunny days and playing card games outside with the kids. We make homemade lemonade and cookies every once in a while. The kids do everything together. I always want to remember them like this.

P.S. I have been dying to try the Luma RX ever since I saw the review. Great giveaway!

I used to love day drinking and staying up late. Now I love not having to deal with my grade schooler’s homework fora couple months. So, old people problems, basically. HA! Love your site! xo

Right? My favorite part about summer is not making school lunch and sleeping in!!! Day drinking and staying up late only amplify my need for sleep. Total old people problems! LOL
